Context
An asset-management platform for Fosun Group’s real-estate businesses, developed in three phases. It first supports full-lifecycle return calculations and dynamic monitoring for individual projects, from investment, development and sales to holding and exit. It then extends to portfolio management and valuation, followed by investor return calculations under different transaction structures. Once completed, the platform presents operational, financial and valuation data dynamically across the group’s real-estate businesses.

Technical lead, leading the technical development and delivery of this system.
Approach
Modules follow the levels of asset management, aggregating individual property calculations, annual budgets and dynamic forecasts into mixed-use developments, portfolios and transaction structure analysis. Data governance connects to the group’s other business systems and continuously supplies data to the modules.

Data governance: Connect to Fosun’s other business systems, collect operational data, and convert and validate it against common definitions before feeding it into the calculation and budgeting system. Provide outbound data feeds to support continuous updates of actual figures across the modules.
Outcome
The system was delivered in phases. The first phase delivered project lifecycle management covering investment calculations, annual budgets and dynamic monitoring. The second phase passed acceptance, with portfolio management and valuation going live. The third phase delivered transaction structure optimisation, together with external data interfaces. After launch, the system ran reliably and was used extensively by business departments.
My responsibilities
- Data research: Investigate the sources, definitions and interfaces of the group’s business systems to prepare for data conversion and integration.
- Technical architecture: Select technologies and lead the design and implementation of the overall system, backend microservices and frontend single-page application architecture.
- Core development: Define standard interfaces between modules, develop core frontend components and package core libraries for use across business services.
- Team management: Assemble and manage the engineering team, assigning responsibilities and managing development progress and release schedules.
- Development and delivery: Establish development and operations workflows, lead development, testing and launch, and oversee ongoing iteration and operations.
- On-site work: Spend periods on site at Fosun conducting data and business research, clarifying data sources and definitions to support data governance and feature design. Support implementation and stable operation, and respond promptly to issues and requirements.
